RECENT PROJECTS: Dr. Smith traveled to the Northern Iraqi border with Syria where he interviewed opposition leaders and defectors about the conditions inside, as well as weaknesses in the Assad regime’s force capabilities.

Last year, Dr. Smith travelled to Libya in March of 2011 at the beginning of the rebellion against Gadhafi, gathering information on radical islamists elements, rogue brigades, illegal weapon manufacturing and storage facilities, key figures. He stressed the need for US involvement and the associated dangers of not doing so correctly. He remained in the area until just 10 days before Gadhafi’s capture and execution.

From 2007 until last year, he was the leader of a team assigend to collect information from within the nation of Iran beginning in 2007 on the whereabouts of a US federal agent who went missing in that country.
